Rotherham United's interim manager Paul Warne has indicated for the first time that he may take the job until the end of the season.

Warne has been in charge of the Championship club since November after Kenny Jackett left after just five games and 39 days in charge.

He has admitted to bursting into tears during team talks to his players and has not "slept for a month" due to the club's plight at the bottom of the table.

The Millers have three wins all season and are five points behind 23rd-place Wigan Athletic, but Warne is hoping their fortunes have turned after the 3-2 win over the Latics on Boxing Day.

"If the chairman asked me to take it on till the end of the season, I would," he told Sky Sports.

"But you've got to be a certain person to be a manager and [I'm] not sure that's me.

"My daughter wants me to do it, because I came home in a much bigger car the other day, it was a club car, and she said 'Dad, can't you be the manager' and I said that I didn't want to be.

"The chairman has asked me to steady ship, but I presume someone with a bigger car than me will come in soon!"

After a run of bad results, the Yorkshire club have two wins from their last four games. Their next game is against Burton Albion at home on Thursday and the interim boss is more optimistic.

"I haven't slept for a month, I was fearful at the idea of going to Newcastle and Leeds," he said.

"All sorts was going through my mind. But I don't feel like that now. Performances are improving. If we win our home games, then we can go to those places without any pressure.

"If I tell them how big this game against Burton is, and they lose it, I don't want them giving up. But they're not idiots - they know, I know, how big this game is it."
