Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods signs a contract extension

Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods has signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until 2020.

The 22-year-old, who arrived from Shrewsbury last September, has been an ever-present in Brentford's Sky Bet Championship side so far this season.

Bees boss Dean Smith told the club's official website: "I am pleased that Ryan has committed himself to the long term future of Brentford FC, he has been a consistent performer in the first team with scope for further improvement.

"He is fast becoming a fans' favourite with his energetic performances, he is a very important part of the plans moving forward."

Woods made a total of 103 appearances for the Shrews ahead of his move to Griffin Park and has scored twice in 48 games for the Bees.
