Leaders Plymouth snatched a dramatic late winner at Kenilworth Road to beat Luton Town 2-1 and extend their advantage at the top of the Sky Bet League Two table to four points.
Carl McHugh fired Argyle ahead on 17 before the Hatters levelled matters 14 minutes from time when Josh McQuoid headed into an empty net.
However, the hosts were reduced to 10 men when Ryan Hall was shown a second yellow card six minutes from time, before Ryan Brunt's rising shot from close range sealed three points for Argyle with 94 minutes on the clock.
High-flying Oxford United suffered their first home defeat of the season, losing 3-2 to Barnet at the Kassam Stadium where all five goals arrived before half-time.
Although Liam Sercombe netted twice for the hosts, three goals in the space of five minutes - from Curtis Weston, John Akinde and Josh Clarke - earned the Bees three points.
Second placed Portsmouth drew a blank with Mansfield at Fratton Park, despite dominating possession as well as shots on goal.
Alfie Potter netted the winner for Northampton Town who came from behind to beat Stevenage 2-1 at Sixfields.
Midfielder Steven Schumacher opened the scoring on 24 when his shot deflected off Zander Diamond on its way to the net, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalising four minutes into the second half, after being set up by Sam Hoskins.
But just after the hour mark, Potter slid home the decisive second from close range after keeper Jesse Joronen had failed to hang on to Calvert-Lewin's shot
Jack Payne gave Leyton Orient a welcome 1-0 win at Morecambe thanks to a 28th-minute strike from outside the box.
Meanwhile, Accrington left Dagenham & Redbridge at the base of the table with a 3-1 victory at The Crown Ground.
Seamus Conneely opened the scoring inside 100 seconds, with Matty Pearson and Josh Windass adding others as the hosts moved 3-0 ahead early in the second half.
Nyron Nosworthy pulled a goal back on 62 but the result leaves Daggers bottom on goal difference.
Yeovil moved one spot above Dagenham despite losing 3-2 at home to Cambridge United.
Rory Gaffney netted a brace, with Luke Berry making it 3-0 before the break with a crisp volley.
Zak Ansah netted a brace of second half goals as Newport County moved off the base of the table with a 4-1 victory at Bristol Rovers.
Exeter and Notts County drew 1-1 at St James Park where Liam Noble's 31st minute goal cancelled out Tom Nichols's opener for the Grecians.
Goals from Simon Walton and Rhys Murphy gave Crawley a 2-1 win over 10-man Hartlepool at Victoria Park.
Scott Harrison was sent off for blocking Murphy's shot on the line with his arm midway through the second half and, from the resulting penalty, Walton sent Trevor Carson the wrong way.
Murphy added a second from Gwion Edwards's assist before Billy Paynter headed a consolation for the hosts 10 minutes from time.
Ten-man Carlisle were frustrated by a last-minute equaliser from Paul Hayes who claimed a point for Wycombe whose 1-1 draw ended a run of three straight defeats.
Troy Archibald-Henville had headed Carlisle in front early in the second half, after Luke Joyce had been shown a straight red card in the 24th minute for a bad challenge on Sam Wood.
But Hayes drew the Chairboys level in injury time when he lobbed goalkeeper Mark Gillespie from outside the area.
And York suffered another home defeat, losing 3-1 to Wimbledon.
Adebayo Azeez gave the Londoners a 15th minute lead, on the rebound, before Vadaine Oliver's overhead kick drew City level on the hour.
Lyle Taylor restored Wimbledon's lead with Tom Elliott making certain of the three points in the 85th minute when he met George Francomb's cross to score with a diving header.
