Sam Hoskins has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with Sky Bet League 2 high-fliers Northampton.

The 23-year-old moved to Sixfields in the summer of 2015 after a successful trial and has scored seven goals so far this season.

Lawson D'Ath and Rod McDonald also penned new contracts with Cobblers this week, and boss Chris Wilder said: "Like Lawson and Rod, Sam is a young player who has played a big part this season, he has a lot of potential and we are delighted he has committed to the club.

"Through his performances, his work-rate and his desire to succeed are clear to see and he is another player with a superb attitude, and that is important.

"We are also pleased to get a number of out-of-contract players tied up early, it is a show of commitment and faith both ways from the club to the player and vice versa and this is more good news for the club."
