Leaders Doncaster took advantage of second-placed Plymouth's slip-up to move six points clear at the top of Sky Bet League Two with a 3-2 victory at Cambridge.

Luke Berry missed a penalty that would have put Cambridge ahead in the ninth minute and Doncaster made them pay, Tommy Rowe and Mathieu Baudry netting in the first half before John Marquis added a third from the penalty spot.

Although George Maris and Berry netted late on Cambridge, it was not enough to stop the League Two leaders securing their first win in six outings.

Plymouth Argyle could not stay within three points of Darren Ferguson's side after losing 1-0 at home to Notts County.

Jorge Grant scored his third goal in four games to lift County, now unbeaten in five matches, away from relegation danger.

Fourth-placed Portsmouth could only move two points behind Carlisle, who were beaten 1-0 by Cheltenham courtesy of Danny Wright's late header, after only managing a 1-1 draw at home to Morecambe.

Pompey, having gone ahead through substitute Kal Naismith, were heading into third spot on goal difference until Lee Molyneux salvaged an equaliser for the visitors with seven minutes remaining.
