Sub Shawn McCoulsky secured a point for Newport against Mansfield.
McCoulsky - on loan from Bristol Rovers - volleyed Ben Tozer's long throw into the corner from 10 yards out.
Mansfield had led at half-time thanks to Danny Rose, who reacted fastest when the ball broke to him after Kane Hemmings' header was blocked.
Newport dominated possession, however, and drew level deservedly in the 69th minute.
