Yeovil forward Francois Zoko came back to haunt his former club as Notts County lost their place at the top of League Two following a 1-1 draw at Huish Park.
County looked on course for a narrow victory courtesy of Jonathan Forte's 41st-minute opener, but Zoko converted a penalty 10 minutes from time after he was brought down in the area by Magpies defender Richard Duffy.
The hosts were reduced to 10 men two minutes from time when Sid Nelson was dismissed for an off-the-ball incident involving Ryan Yates. County's slip up allowed free-scoring Luton to go top on goal difference as they comfortably beat Carlisle 3-0.
Nathan Jones' Hatters, who have now scored 46 goals in 19 games, were in complete control by half-time thanks to goals from Andrew Shinnie and Dan Potts. Substitute Harry Cornick wrapped up victory in the 76th minute, while Danny Hylton's late penalty was saved by Carlisle goalkeeper Jack Bonham.
Accrington remain hot on the heels of the top two after they beat fellow high-flyers Wycombe 1-0 thanks to Mark Hughes' second-half winner.
Under-pressure Crawley boss Harry Kewell saw his side record a much-needed win as they came from behind to beat promotion-chasing Exeter 3-1.
Jamille Matt scored at both ends as Swindon also lost ground near the top of the division with a 3-2 loss at Grimsby.
Mansfield enjoyed the biggest win of the evening, making it six league games unbeaten with a 4-0 success at Port Vale.
Second-bottom Barnet ended a 12-game winless league run in dramatic fashion as goals in the last three minutes from John Akinde and top-scorer Shaq Coulthirst earned a 2-1 win at Newport.
Bottom club Chesterfield continued their resurgence under Jack Lester by beating 10-man Forest Green 3-2.
Elsewhere, a superb 86th-minute strike from Perry Ng gave Crewe a 1-0 success at Morecambe, Stevenage drew 1-1 at home to Coventry and Colchester beat Lincoln 1-0.
In the night's other game, Cheltenham against Cambridge ended goalless.
