Colchester 6-0 Crewe

Colchester extended their unbeaten start to the season with a thumping 6-0 home victory over a shell-shocked Crewe.

The U's took a fourth-minute lead through Frankie Kent, who swept in from close range after Sammie Szmodics' effort had been blocked following Brennan Dickenson's free-kick.

And it was 2-0 four minutes later when Dickenson unleashed a fine 25-yard left-foot shot that flew past goalkeeper Dave Richards.

Dickenson extended the hosts' lead in the 27th minute when he lifted a shot into the roof of the net at the far post after Ryan Jackson's long throw into the box had sailed across the area.

Jackson added Colchester's fourth in the 59th minute, slamming a low shot past Richards after Courtney Senior's effort had been blocked following a swift Colchester break.
