Newport defender Fraser Franks has been forced to retire with a heart problem at the age of 28.
After 320 career appearances, Franks has taken medical advice to call time on his playing career.
He had spells with AFC Wimbledon, Luton and Stevenage, along with a number of non-League teams and was coming to the end of his first season at Rodney Parade.
The League Two club released a statement on Thursday, expressing sadness at Franks' forced retirement from football.
