Crewe Alexandra midfielder Steven Schumacher admits he is playing for a new contract at Gresty Road.
Schumacher, who has scored eight goals in 67 appearances since joining Crewe from Bradford City in 2007, is out of contract at the end of the season.
He believes he is currently showing his best form for the Railwaymen and hopes it will be enough to warrant a new deal with the League Two club.
"I think I have produced my best form since coming to Crewe this season, but there is still more to come from me," the 25-year-old told the club's
official website.
"I am out of contract in the summer, so I am playing for my future. I am used to it now and I am professional enough to handle it.
"It is in the back of mind, but all I can do is keep playing regularly and make an impression.
"I don't know what the future holds. All I can do is go out every week and give my all for Crewe and see where that takes me."
