Burton moved to the top of the Sky Bet League Two table after battling back to beat Dagenham 3-1.

Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's substitution played a crucial role as Abdenasser El Khayati put them ahead before teeing up Damian McCrory late on.

Dagenham, without ill boss Wayne Burnett, had threatened to cause an upset when Alex Jakubiak opened the scoring, only for Adam McGurk to smash home the leveller four minutes later.

Previous leaders Shrewsbury slipped to second as they lost 2-1 at struggling Tranmere.

Rovers had to see off a late Shrewsbury rally after first-half goals from Rory Donnelly and Danny Holmes, with Connor Goldson pulling them back within a goal eight minutes from time.

Third-placed Wycombe kept up the pressure at the top as goals from Aaron Pierre, Matthew McClure and Fred Onyedinma earned them a 3-2 win at Carlisle.

Reuben Reid was Plymouth's Devon derby hero with a hat-trick against Exeter City in a comfortable 3-1 win at St James' Park in the day's early kick off.

Argyle's top scorer saw his opener cancelled out by Arron Davies but he kept his cool to convert a penalty. Team mate Olly Lee was handed a straight red but Argyle were not to be denied with Reid bundling home a third to claim the match ball.

There was also a treble for Matt Tubbs as Portsmouth won away in League Two for just the second time this season as they put Cambridge United to the sword in an emphatic 6-2 win.

Andrew Tutte's goal saw Bury climb back into the League Two play-off places as they saw off bottom-side Hartlepool 1-0 while in stark contrast Newport's own promotion dream looks dead in the water after Morecambe held out for a 1-0 victory thanks to Jack Redshaw's strike.

A last-minute winner from substitute David Connolly helped AFC Wimbledon see off Luton 3-2. The Hatters had battled back from 2-0 down, only for veteran forward Connolly to steal victory.

Alex MacDonald struck twice as Oxford United crushed Mansfield 3-0 to ease their relegation fears while substitute Ben Kennedy inspired Stevenage to a dramatic 4-2 win over Southend.

Elsewhere Northampton comfortably saw off York 3-0 to leave the Minstermen looking over their shoulder in 22nd place, just a point above Cheltenham.
