Walsall fought out an absorbing 0-0 draw with Grimsby to maintain a perfect defensive record in Sky Bet League Two after three games.
Two well-matched sides traded half-chances in a physical encounter, first through Courtney Clarke when he hammered high and wide from Aaron Pressley's lay-off after 16 minutes.
Charles Vernam then blazed over after good work from Andy Cook following Harvey Rodgers' low cross during a spell of pressure from the hosts which followed.

The Saddlers ramped up the tempo early in the second half with Clarke hitting into the chest of visiting goalkeeper Christy Pym.
Declan Skura got caught under a header from a recycled set-piece just before the hour, with commanding Grimsby centre-halves Maldini Kacurri and Cameron McJannet effectively snuffing out the danger.
The visitors posed a greater threat as the half wore on as Justin Amaluzor was shoved over en route to goal by James Connolly, who was booked, and Jayden Sweeney's thump on the run from the left edge of the box was beaten over by Jed Ward 13 minutes from the end.
