Swindon Town have sacked manager Phil Brown and assistant Neil McDonald.

Swindon beat National League North side York City 2-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday, but the win was the first one at home in two months and the club are currently 17th in Sky Bet League Two.

The club released a statement on their website, that said: "Swindon Town Football Club can today confirm that Phil Brown, has been relieved of his duties as first-team manager.

"Assistant Manager, Neil McDonald will also be leaving the club with immediate effect.

"Swindon Town football club would like to put on record its thanks for the efforts of Phil and Neil in their time at SN1, and wish them all the best in their future endeavours."

The 59-year-old took over at the County Ground in March 2018 after previous manager David Flitcroft left the club to join Mansfield Town.

The former Southend, Derby County, Hull City and Preston manager has struggled to get Swindon into the promotion places after a poor start to the season.
