MK Dons produced a workmanlike performance to move top of League Two after beating bottom club Macclesfield 2-0.
Paul Tisdale's men took full advantage of Lincoln City's postponed game against Yeovil Town as Chuks Aneke and Kieran Agard scored the all-important goals to see the hosts extend their unbeaten league run to 10 games.
Basement boys Macclesfield are seven points from safety after their fourth-straight league defeat.
The hosts had two goals disallowed in a goalless first half at stadium:mk, while goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara made some fine saves to frustrate the hosts.
Aneke was well kept out by O'Hara early on, after a well-worked team move, while Agard had the ball in the net before the linesman cut short his celebrations.
Forward Agard's volley was saved by O'Hara as the dominant Dons continued to push for an opener.
Just before the break Jordan Moore-Taylor headed home, but Agard was adjudged to have felled O'Hara.
Eight minutes after the restart, MK Dons got their reward as Aneke reached double figures for the season with a curling finish.
Agard almost doubled the advantage minutes later with O'Hara keeping out his back heel.
But the potent frontman finally got on the scoresheet in the 66th minute as he latched onto Alex Gilbey's throughball before finishing well under pressure.
