MK Dons chief on shortlist to replace McClaren

Skysports.com understands Karl Robinson is a leading contender for the vacant managerial post at Nottingham Forest. Forest are on the lookout for a new boss after Steve McClaren resigned as manager on Sunday following the 3-1 home defeat to Birmingham. A number of names, including former players Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane, have been linked with the job, but Robinson is thought to figure highly on Forest's shortlist. Robinson is regarded as one of the brightest young managers around after taking over as MK Dons boss at the age of 29, making him the youngest manager in the Football League in the process. The 31-year-old started coaching at Liverpool's academy before working as a coach at Blackburn under Paul Ince, who he followed to MK Dons. In his first full season in charge he guided MK Dons to the play-offs where they lost to Peterborough and they currently sit second in League One after an impressive start to the season. MK Dons would be loath to lose Robinson, but the Liverpool-born manager is believed to have his admirers within the corridors of power at the City Ground as they look to bring in a new man.
