Fleetwood 2-0 Shrewsbury
Saturday 5 September 2026 14:43, UK
Fleetwood maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an impressive 2-0 win over struggling Shrewsbury.
The Cod Army have now gone six games in all competition - five in League Two - without defeat.
In a dull opening, the only chance of note was a powerful shot from outside the area by Josh Davison which was comfortably gathered by Fleetwood goalkeeper Jay Lynch.
Six minutes before the break Shrewsbury pressed the self-destruct button.
Keeper Will Brook gave away a corner after holding on to the ball for more than eight seconds. The resulting set-piece was headed down by Rhys Bennett and Ronan Coughlan managed to guide the ball home from close range with his knee.
Shrewsbury started the second half brightly and had two decent penalty shouts turned down, Lewis McCann replying with a left-footed shot that went narrowly wide.
The home side secured the points with four minutes to go, on-loan Fulham striker Aaron Loupalo-Bi's close-range shot taking a wicked deflection on its way in.
