Former Newport forward Bobby Kamwa was pelted with plastic bottles after taunting visiting fans following his goal that put Bristol Rovers on course for a 5-3 victory in the Severnside derby at the Memorial Stadium.
Cameroon forward Kamwa curled in a delightful goal to settle a topsy-turvy contest before running the length of the field to celebrate in front of travelling fans who booed him throughout.
He was booked for his actions that saw tempers boil over, with his ex-team-mate Ciaran Brennan also earning a yellow card in a minor melee.
Harrison Biggins gave Newport a dream start after just 13 seconds when he beat Brad Young's dive with a low drive.

Ben Purrington levelled in first-half stoppage time with a close-range header after Kamwa's cross was deflected off the crossbar.
Fabrizio Cavegn put Steve Evans' side ahead on 53 minutes when he skilfully made space for himself before beating Jordan Wright with a low 20-yarder.
Rovers strengthened their grip on the contest four minutes later thanks to an own-goal from centre-back Lee Jenkins.
Exiles striker Shaquille Gwengwe halved the deficit on 61 minutes when he raced onto Christian Doidge's through-ball and lobbing Young.
Kamwa took centre-stage on 74 minutes before substitute Cole Jarvis struck in the first minute of stoppage time to set up a nerve-jangling finale.
Cavegn settled the contest after slotting into an empty goal after Wright had been sent up front by Newport manager Hayden Mullins to salvage a point.
