Grimsby's unbeaten start to the League Two season continued at the expense of Bristol Rovers with a 2-0 victory at Blundell Park.
Goals from captain Kieran Green and Geza David Turi helped the Mariners end a run of four successive draws.
Charles Vernam forced the first save of the game as he cut in from Grimsby's left flank and curled a shot towards the far post from outside the box.
The Mariners took the lead in the 22nd minute through Green, who nipped in to score as Riley Harbottle underweighted his headed pass back to goalkeeper Brad Young.
Turi gave the hosts breathing room in the 40th minute with a breathtaking strike from distance, firing the ball into the top right corner of Young's net.
As frustrations grew for the visitors, their task of getting back in the game was made much more difficult after 75 minutes, with Tommy Leigh shown a straight red for an off-ball altercation with Mark Shelton.
Turi missed from point-blank range shortly after to wrap up the game but, down a man, Rovers were unable to muster a reply.
