Rovers get Cash for free
Bristol Rovers have brought in midfielder Brian Cash on a non-contract basis.
Bristol Rovers have brought in former Nottingham Forest midfielder Brian Cash on a non-contract basis.Cash was released by Forest in November, despite having a contract at The City Ground until the end of the season.
The Irishman had been unable to make the breakthrough with the struggling Championship club, appearing just eight times as a substitute.
He spent the early weeks of the campaign on loan at Rochdale and has now returned to League Two to sign for Rovers.
With The Pirates beset by injuries at the moment, manager Ian Atkins is thankful the 22-year-old has decided to play for nothing.
"Brian Cash has joined us from Nottingham Forest and we're grateful for that," Atkins told the club's official website.
"He has signed registration forms for us and will be training with the squad.
"He's not getting paid but he gives us some cover during this period and fair play to him for wanting to be involved."
