O'Grady gets his reward for being 'at the pinnacle of his form'

Rochdale striker Chris O'Grady has been named the PFA League Two Fans' Player of the Month for March. With the monthly awards complete, now is the time to vote for your Player of the Season prize! Click here to vote! Easter Monday's goalless draw against Bournemouth leaves Dale seven points clear at the top of the table and O'Grady has already scored 20 goals for Keith Hill's side this term - all of those in the league. High-flying Rochdale scored four goals on no less than three separate occasions in March and after another recent four-goal haul against Rotherham, Millers' boss Ronnie Moore said: "We defended too deep so the midfielders couldn't get on the ball but the difference between the two sides was O'Grady. "We know what he is like, we know he wants to lean into you so you have to keep him at arm's length. But he bossed it and made our back four drop deep. He is someone we have been lacking - someone with the knowledge to hold the ball up and bring others into play."

Transfer

The 24-year-old originally arrived at Rochdale on-loan from Oldham last August but has since joined the club in a permanent deal and signed a two-and-a-half-year contract after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee. O'Grady started his career at Leicester and he also had loan spells at Notts County, Rushden, Rotherham, Bury, Bradford and Stockport before joining Oldham. Hill negotiated long and hard with Oldham to take O'Grady to Spotland on a permanent basis after his successful loan spell, and he said back then: "Where would we find a striker to replace Chris O'Grady? "We search long and hard every day to find players who will make this club better. But he is at the pinnacle of his form."
