League Two preview

The League Two play-off race hots up while relegation rivals Grimsby and Barnet go head-to-head.

Last Updated: 30/04/10 1:19pm

The League Two play-off race hots up on Saturday while Grimsby and Barnet go head-to-head in a crucial relegation clash.

Bournemouth, Rochdale and champions Notts County have already secured the automatic promotion places but the clubs from fourth down to 12th are still not assured of their fate with two games to go.

Fourth-placed Rotherham are five points above eighth-placed Morecambe so victory at home to lowly Crewe will spare them going through any final-day drama.

Then just three points separate fifth-placed Aldershot and Dagenham in 11th so the play-off picture will be changing constantly over the last two games.

Aldershot will aim to build on last week's last-gasp win at Cheltenham as they host Lincoln, who are now assured of their League status.

Survival

Sixth-placed Bury suffered a late defeat at Lincoln last week and hope to bounce back at home to in-form Torquay, who have secured survival in style by winning five of their last six.

Port Vale currently occupy the final play-off spot and travel to Bournemouth, who despite securing promotion last week can still catch Rochdale to finish second.

Morecambe kept their play-off hopes alive with a late win at home to Dagenham last week and they visit Shrewsbury, who despite still having mathematical hope of snatching a play-off spot indicated they accept their season is over by sacking manager Paul Simpson on Friday.

Barnet also wielded the axe this week, sacking Ian Hendon after the Bees' 1-0 defeat at Accrington on Tuesday, which meant Grimsby remain four points behind heading into their crunch game at Blundell Park.

Accrington visit Chesterfield, who like Morecambe are behind Port Vale on goal difference despite being without a win in five.

Presentation

Northampton and Dagenham are both a point further back, with Northampton visiting Bradford while the Daggers host Hereford.

Notts County will be presented with the League Two trophy as they host Cheltenham, who need a point to be safe, while Rochdale will continue their promotion party at home to Burton.

Macclesfield and rock-bottom Darlington have little to play for, meanwhile, as they meet at Moss Rose.
