Promising centre-half out to impress Craig Short

Krystian Pearce is hoping to earn a contract at Notts County after joining the club for pre-season training. The youngster is currently available as a free agent after being released by Birmingham at the end of last season. He was unable to make the grade during his time at St Andrews, with his senior experience to date coming from loan spells at Notts County, Port Vale, Scunthorpe, Peterborough and Huddersfield. Pearce admits it was difficult for him to showcase his talent with so much uncertainty surrounding his future, but hopes the opportunity to prove his worth to County will allow him to put down roots and settle at one club. "Right now, all I am looking to do is find a club that is willing to give me a chance to play regular football," the 20-year-old centre-half told the Nottingham Evening Post. "When I was at Birmingham I was always being loaned out and you can't settle at a club. I am looking to do that now. Hopefully I can settle in Nottingham.

Shock

"It was still hard leaving Birmingham even though I never got the chance to make my debut for them because I was there for nearly 10 years, so it was home. "It was a bit of a shock when they said I could leave. At the start of the season I thought my future was there. It was difficult. "Last season was so frustrating, but I'm still young so I have to take it as a learning curve. I learnt a lot from not playing last season, like how to deal with setbacks and the importance of not being discouraged. "I guess there is a bit of uncertainty about my future but you can't let it affect you. You have got to stay in a positive frame of mind and just do your best wherever you go. "I am out here in Austria with Notts, so I'm here to do my best and hopefully impress the manager."
