County defender desperate to shake off knee problem

Notts County defender Graeme Lee is determined to make a swift recovery after picking up a knee injury last week. The 32-year-old has struggled to establish himself in the first team this season, but earned a recall to the side recently and impressed against Peterborough, Sheffield Wednesday and Rochdale. However, the experienced centre-half is set for a fortnight on the sidelines after injuring his knee and has told skysports.com that he is desperate to get back in the side as soon as he can. "It will probably be another couple of weeks before I'm back in contention for a first-team recall," said Lee, who sat out Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Huddersfield. "You don't want to get injured at any time, but having missed the majority of the season after sitting on the bench most games and waiting for a chance then it is frustrating when you pick up an injury after three starts. "I'm just hoping to recover as quickly as possible and make myself available for selection again. "We've got a massive run in, with precious points at stake in every game, so we need every player fighting fit and raring to go, including me. "We want to push ourselves away from trouble and up the table as soon as we can and I'm hoping to be a part of that."

Struggled

The Magpies have struggled recently and Lee insists that they need to start scoring more goals if they are going to turn it around and avoid relegation this season. "Performances have been up and down recently, with defeats against high-flying Peterborough and Brighton followed up by an impressive win at Sheffield Wednesday. "It is frustrating for us, but we need to take our opportunities more when we create chances to score first. "That is probably why we are where we are in the table because we haven't converted possession and chances into goals as much as we would like. "You keep saying that it will come, but there are less and less games to start doing it and we need to put that right as soon as possible."
