Manager shown the door just 10 games into season
Simon Davey has been sacked as manager of Hereford following a miserable start to the League Two season.
Davey was only appointed as the new boss of the Bulls over the summer following a brief stint with Darlington, where he abruptly jumped ship following the Quakers' relegation.
Hereford are currently propping up the entire Football League and have won just once in their 10 outings to date, with Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Barnet proving to be the final straw for the club's board.
The Underhill reverse came hard on the heels of back-to-back home humblings at the hands of Southend and Stevenage.
A statement on the club's
official website read: "Hereford United have today parted company with manager Simon Davey and his assistant Andy Fensome.
"The club decided to terminate their contracts after an unacceptable start to the season which has seen the club slump to the bottom of the table with just one win and four goals from 10 games."
Hereford physio Jamie Pitman has been placed in temporary charge of team affairs.
The Bulls have started looking for a permanent successor and hope to have someone in charge as soon as possible.
But in the meantime Pitman, a former midfielder who enjoyed two playing spells with the club between 1996-98 and 2002-06, will take charge of the team for Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash at home to Exeter.
