Goalkeeper Aaron Chapman has become Accrington's first summer signing after penning a two-year deal at the Wham Stadium.

The 26-year-old was recently released by Chesterfield having failed to make an appearance for the Spireites, although he did make three starts for Accrington before an ankle injury cut short a loan spell in 2014 and featured five times for Bristol Rovers at the start of last season.

"It's strange to be back but it's nice," Chapman told the club's official site.

"I wasn't here for long but I had a good time while it lasted so it's nice to be back."

"It was my first taste of league football and on a personal level I felt good playing so for it to be taken away was hard to take and I felt I had some unfinished business here."

Accrington manager John Coleman added: "I think he's a smashing signing. It's a key position and I'm hopeful of bringing another keeper in over the next few days and the aim is to get two good goalkeepers fighting for one place."
