Hibernian failed to capitalise on league leaders Rangers dropping points at home to Morton, drawing 1-1 with Falkirk at Easter Road

Hibernian missed the chance to close the gap on Scottish Championship leaders Rangers after drawing 1-1 with Falkirk at Easter Road.

With Rangers dropping their first home points of the season in a 2-2 draw with Morton at Ibrox, Hibs could have closed the gap to a single point with a victory in the capital on Saturday.

However in the end it needed a last-gasp equaliser from Martin Boyle for the Edinburgh side to salvage a draw.

With the clock showing 91 minutes, Boyle got the final touch from close range to prevent Hibs from losing at home in the league for the first time since April.

The visitors had taken the lead just seven minutes earlier when Lee Miller found the bottom left-hand corner of the net, latching on to a loose ball after home keeper Mark Oxley had failed to hold on to a shot by Blair Alston.

The hosts also had to play 48 minutes with just 10 men, following the dismissal of John McGinn who was shown a red card for a foul on Mark Kerr shortly before the break.

Both other Championship games produced just a single goal each with Dumbarton beating St Mirren and Alloa edging past Livingston.

At the Bet Butler Stadium in Dumbarton, Garry Fleming collected Grant Gallagher's pass before smashing the ball into the top corner five minutes after the break.

And at Livingston, in the battle between the bottom two sides, Robbie Crawford's goal on 64 sealed the points for the visitors.

The on-loan midfielder netted with a low left-foot shot from 12 yards, which provided Athletic with only their second win of the season and moves them to within three points of Saturday's opponents.
