Dundee secured Scottish Premiership safety with a 3-0 victory over relegated Livingston at Dens Park.

The Dark Blues took an early lead through on-loan Swansea winger Cameron Congreve and substitute Fin Robertson added a second after the break.

Livingston's Robbie Muirhead then had a penalty saved, with Dundee putting the icing on the cake late on with Ash Hay, another replacement, adding a third.

The win combined with St Mirren being beaten by Kilmarnock means Dundee have a nine-point lead over the Buddies in the relegation play-off spot with just two games remaining.

The hosts made just one change to the team that beat St Mirren 1-0 at Dens last Saturday with Kieran O'Hara taking the place of injured goalkeeper Jon McCracken between the sticks.

The visitors made four alterations to the side that drew with Aberdeen last Friday with Cammy Kerr, Scott Pittman, Macaulay Tait and Barrie McKay being drafted in for Ryan McGowan, Cristian Montano, Stevie May and interim boss Scott Arfield, who restricted himself to a non-playing role in the dug-out.

Dundee were the first to threaten in the third minute when Yan Dhanda picked out Joe Westley inside the Livi box but the front man's low shot flew just wide of 'keeper Jerome Prior's post.

Livi then had a great chance of their own after Pittman carved open the Dundee defence with an incisive pass into the feet of Tait, with O'Hara having to pull off a superb fingertip save.

Dundee broke the deadlock in the 13th minute after a Tony Yogane cross from the left was headed down by skipper Simon Murray into the path of Congreve, who rifled home past the exposed Prior.

The home side made a nervy start to the second half with fans groaning after a series of misplaced passes. That anxiety increased when Livi had a chance in the 55th minute but Joel Nouble headed over O'Hara's bar.

However, Dundee nerves were finally eased in the 71st minute when Congreve provided a perfect cutback from the right, with replacement Robertson clinically firing past Prior at the back post.

Livi had a chance to pull one back when Dundee's Ethan Hamilton brought down Lewis Smith inside the box with referee Colin Steven pointing to the spot but sub Muirhead was denied by O'Hara.

Dundee sealed the win in the 83rd minute when Hay headed home a Robertson cross from close range.
