Hibernian are lining up a move for Austrian defender Markus Berger,
skysports.com understands.
The Academica ace has arrived at Easter Road for a short trial period at the club so that Mixu Paatelainen can assess his fitness.
Paatelainen is keen to bolster his backline and he is exploring the option of signing versatile performer Berger.
The 23-year-old's agent Frank Schreier admits Berger is hopeful of sealing a loan move with a view to a permanent deal at Hibs.
"Markus will have a short trial at Hibernian so that they can assess his physical condition," Schreier told
skysports.com.
"He will train with the squad and play in a reserve game later this week.
"Markus is interested in a move to Hibernian because he likes their style of football.
"Any move will be a loan deal until the end of the season with possibly the option to buy."
