Motherwell manager Craig Brown insists there has been no official approach from Italian club Bari for defender Mark Reynolds.
The 23-year-old centre-half has reportedly been watched three times by the Serie A outfit and the Galletti are thought to be preparing a £250,000 January bid.
Reynolds is out of contract at Fir Park next summer, but Brown says the club have not received an offer for the promising stopper.
"We have had no official contact from any club regarding Mark, but it would be no surprise if his form is attracting attention from the continent or elsewhere," he said in the
Evening Times.
"In the last three years he has missed just one game and that is remarkable consistency.
"Mark has great pace and that is the asset that is prized most when you are playing in a key area in the backline. He is the complete modern central defender."
Brown believes it would be better for the Steelmen if they could keep hold of Reynolds until the end of the campaign, but admits the decision is out of his hands.
"Ultimately it will not be my decision, that will be for the chairman John Boyle to make," he added.
"But last season there was around £77,000 per place at stake in the SPL and I would say keeping Mark until the end of the campaign could be a difference of three places for us.
"That would negate any such fee, should these reports prove accurate.
"So for me it would make more sense for us to keep a hold of Mark."
