Hoops coach hoping to avoid any untimely slip-ups
Johan Mjallby is hoping Celtic's derby heroics will not lead to them taking their eye off the ball when they return to Scottish Premier League action on Monday.
The Hoops clambered to the top of the table on Wednesday as they edged out Old Firm rivals Rangers to record a ninth victory in a row.
Their next outing takes them to struggling Dunfermline for a fixture that will have a lot less attention focused on it.
Mjallby is aware that it is in such games that slip-ups can be suffered and he has warned the Celtic squad that they cannot afford to become complacent.
"We need to be careful," said the Hoops' assistant manager.
"It is even more important for the staff and the manager to make sure that the players need to be as focused as they were on Wednesday because it is a tricky game.
"There is no pressure on them, they are going to go out there with a lot of freedom.
"The hard work we have been putting in has been playing off. We are playing really well at the moment and the confidence is there but, as I said, it's a case of making sure the players don't get ahead of themselves."
Future
While reluctant to dwell too much on games that have already passed, Mjallby was pleased to learn that the average age of the Celtic side that lined up against Rangers was just under 23.
"It's great," said the Swede.
"It shows that we have been signing good young players and hopefully we have done our job in improving them, which is good for the future of the club.
"We have seen from day one that they have been very talented, but we have had to work with them.
"But, if we can keep hold of them, Celtic have the chance to be very strong in the future."
