Celtic manager Ronny Deila is looking to earn his first Europa League win of the season in the final Group A fixture at Fenerbahce on Thursday.

The Hoops have already been eliminated from the competition, in what is the club's worst season in European football since 2010 when they were beaten in the Europa League qualifiers by Utrecht.

And the situation is all the more frustrating for Celtic as Deila's team appeared to be making progress this time last year.

Deila is expecting another tough test for his side in Istanbul, where a victory for Celtic could deny Fenerbahce second place in the group and see Ajax progress to the knockout stage.

When asked if Celtic's first trip to Turkey was the toughest test in the section, Deila said: "I think so. I think it is the toughest game. We are playing a very good team and it is a tough place to come to win.

"But we have seen that other teams have come away from here with points, so everything is possible.

"It's always important to win and if we can get a victory, it'll be a big achievement. It will give us a lot of confidence to go into the domestic league as well."

Deila knows Celtic's defensive frailties will have to be addressed in order to get a positive result on Thursday.

The Scottish champions have conceded two goals or more in their last seven European fixtures, and appear to be paying the price for attempting an expansive game.

"It is important that when you are away in Europe, you defend well first of all and when we get the ball we have to make some problems for them," Deila said.

"We want to be very clear in how we defend and how we attack."
