Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic has put the record straight after reports in the Scottish media claimed he was planning to leave the club.

The Australia international was perplexed to hear headlines claiming he has rejected offers of a new contract with Celtic and the 23-year-old moved quickly to state his position at the club.

"I know there was a story today suggesting that I want to leave Celtic," Rogic told Celtic's official website. "This is simply not the case at all.

"I am really enjoying my time at Celtic and I am proud to be part of such a great football club.

"I want to extend my contract with Celtic. I am speaking to the club just now and hopefully this will be agreed very soon."

Rogic has returned to the Celtic squad this season following a lengthy injury lay-off, and has impressed in Ronny Deila's side this season.

The player has scored seven goals so far in the campaign, although he has missed the last two games because of an ankle problem.

However, Rogic is back in training and could be in the squad to face Dundee at Celtic Park in Wednesday's Scottish Premiership clash.

Earlier on Monday, Deila rubbished the media claims that negotiations over a fresh contract with Rogic have halted.

"Talks have not stalled at all. They are going on as normal," Deila said.

"We are working on getting it renewed and he is in our plans for the future. That's what we hope."
