Police Scotland are investigating allegations a Hearts fan attempted to hit Celtic match-winner Scott Sinclair on Sunday.

Sinclair scored a late goal on his debut to give Celtic a 2-1 win in their Scottish Premiership opener at Tynecastle.

The forward ran in front of the home supporters on his way to celebrate with Celtic's away following, and footage appears to show two fans making failed attempts to punch him.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in Edinburgh are investigating after a supporter attempted to confront a Celtic player within Tynecastle Stadium on Sunday August 7. Inquiries are ongoing."

Hearts' security and safety officer Phil O'Kane said: "I can confirm Hearts have been in contact with Police Scotland and this matter is now subject of a criminal investigation.
