Brendan Rodgers says Celtic are beginning to discuss their summer recruitment and did not deny the club have been watching German striker Lennart Thy.

Sky Sports News understands Celtic scouts have been among those monitoring Thy in recent matches for Dutch top-flight side VVV Venlo, where he is on loan from Werder Bremen.

Thy has scored six goals in the Eredivisie this season and his Bremen contract expires in June, but Rodgers believes speculation is building about a number of players as the summer window approaches.

"Yeah (we are now looking at recruitment). You have to plan forward. Every club is doing that. We've been doing it for a period of time now," Rodgers said.

"Myself, Peter Lawwell and Lee Congerton have sat down and had our local and international scouts here to make sure we're focused in on what we're looking for in the summer.

"If there was (interest in Lennart Thy) I still wouldn't tell you. There is so much speculation around, and players I haven't even heard of sometimes. I think the game has already started linking players with clubs.

"There is always speculation and that one, probably, is one of many."

The Scottish transfer window opens on June 9 this summer and closes on September 1. The Scottish leagues have not followed those in England in bringing forward the transfer deadline to August 9.
