Celtic's Deadline Day signing Jeremy Toljan admits he spoke to several other clubs, but was sold on the plan to take the next step of his career in Scottish football.

Jeremy Toljan has revealed he spoke with several other clubs but turned them all down for the chance to play for Brendan Rodgers' Celtic.

The defender sealed a Deadline Day loan switch to Celtic and admits he was sold by the vision Rodgers and his staff laid out for him.

"There were other clubs interested but when I spoke with Celtic, I knew it would be the right move for me," Toljan told Sky Sports in his first press conference.

"I liked the plan they had for me. I'm very happy to be here. I'm fit and ready to play. We had pre-season and friendly games, I'm in full training for the last month so I'm okay."

Rodgers brought an end to his search for a full-back upon Toljan's arrival, and admitted he was delighted to have brought in a player of such calibre.

"We're delighted, he's obviously a very talented player coming from a big league, and in terms of athleticism as a full back and quality on the ball he possesses that," said Rodgers.

"He's here to the end of the season and we look forward to working with him. He was one that was off-limits for us a number of months back but one that our recruitment team was looking at, so it's good to get him in now.

"He's a player that can defend the middle of the field well as a full back but also get forward, he will add to our squad and we're delighted he's here."
