Celtic have confirmed Ryan Christie suffered multiple facial fractures during Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen.

Christie was placed in a neck brace and stretchered off following a clash of heads with Dominic Ball, who was given a second yellow card for the challenge.

The 24-year-old uploaded an image of his injuries on Monday and is set for an extended spell on the sidelines.

"Ryan is scheduled to undergo surgery on Thursday of this week," Celtic said in a statement.

"We are not able at this stage to give any specific indication on a timescale for his return to action but, of course, everyone at Celtic wishes Ryan all the best for his full recovery.

"Ryan would also like to thank everyone sincerely for the many wishes of support he has received."
