Sutton has been rewarded by his fellow professionals for a fine season for the recently-crowned SPL champions.
The former Chelsea striker has scored 27 goals this term and has been an instrumental figure in the team's success on the pitch.
He beat off competition from Celtic colleagues Henrik Larsson and Stilian Petrov, along with Rangers goalkeeper Stefan Klos, to win the award.
In the Young Player of the Year category, Scotland international Pearson capped a memorable season by taking the prize.
Pearson joined Celtic from Motherwell during January's transfer window and he fended off competition from former team-mate David Clarkson, Hearts keeper Craig Gordon and Hibernian's Derek Riordan.
SPFA chief Tony Higgins believes the double success for the Bhoys duo is a fitting tribute to Celtic's dominance this season.
"This reflects the type of season that Celtic have had," Higgins told the Press Association.
"Celtic had three final nominations for the Player of the Year award and for them to have two main winners does reflect how big a season they have had at home and in Europe."
