Gers duo up for award

The Scottish PFA have named their nominees for Player of the Year.

Rangers duo Fernando Ricksen and Nacho Novo are the leading contenders to be named Scottish PFA Player of the Year.

The pair are battling it out with Celtic's John Hartson and Hearts midfielder Paul Hartley for the prize.

Gers captain Ricksen has enjoyed a fine season to date and has already lifted the CIS Insurance Cup this season.

Spanish striker Novo has been in superb form in his first season at Ibrox following his summer move from Dundee and is second top scorer in The SPL.

Celtic ace Hartson is currently top scorer in The SPL with 19 goals and has helped The Bhoys to the Scottish Cup final.

Hartley has enjoyed a fine season with Hearts which has seen him break into the Scotland team and his performances have attracted the interest of a host of clubs.

Celtic star Chris Sutton won the Players' Player of the Year award last year.
