Gers held at home as Celtic and Motherwell both claim victories

Rangers saw their lead at the top of the SPL table cut to 10 points after Celtic and Motherwell both posted victories away from home. Dundee United and St Mirren both collected three points in front of their own fans as Hibernian were held at home by Kilmarnock. Reigning champions Rangers endured a frustrating afternoon after Ally McCoist's side were held to a 0-0 draw at home by St Johnstone. Anthony Stokes scored a second-half brace as Celtic took full advantage of playing the majority of the game against 10 men in a 2-0 victory at Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Omar Daley's second-half winner ensured Motherwell remain level on points with Celtic following a 2-1 success at struggling Aberdeen. Dundee United recorded a much-needed three points after Scott Robertson's 24th minute goal secured a 1-0 home triumph over Hearts. Billy Brown's claims to land the Hibernian job on a permanent basis only brought a 1-1 draw at home with Kilmarnock as Leigh Griffiths' second-half goal earned the hosts a point. First-half goals from Kenny McLean and Nigel Hasselbaink continued St Mirren's impressive run this season following a 2-1 home win over Dunfermline Athletic.
