Mark Warburton admits any signings he makes in the January transfer window will be minimal as he is keen not to upset his current squad.

The Rangers manager said this week he would be looking to 'add value' to his squad with any additions he makes halfway through the season.

He maintains, however, he will only be making slight changes as he would be looking to integrate them into his team straight away.

Warburton, who brought 10 players to Ibrox in the summer, met Rangers chairman Dave King for talks this week after he arrived in Glasgow from his South African base.

Happy with their discussions, he is now clear on what he needs to do to his pool and said: "It won't be five or six players - far from it. We're looking at one, maximum two players in January.

Mark Warburton says there's still work to be done at Rangers despite the Scottish Championship leaders having a 100% league record.

"We have a good dressing room. They are where they are in the league because they deserve to be there. I think it would be almost disrespectful to your playing squad to go and get five or six players in.

"You can't talk about working together on a daily basis and then talk about bringing five or six players in. The moment you do that you lose all harmony in your ranks. You're always busier in May, June and July. Why? Because you have the eight weeks of pre-season to bed in the new players.

"In January you are up and running and I think if you bring in five, six or seven new signings it is a huge risk. For us it will be one or two in January and then four or five more in the summer period."

Warburton, who has ended his interest in trialist Gai Assulin, takes Rangers to play Hibernian in the Scottish Championship on Sunday.

The Ibrox team could move 11 points clear of their closest challengers if they muster a third victory of the season over Alan Stubbs' side.

But Warburton does not believe the game will be definitive, adding: "We are only a third of the way through the season. There will still be 72 points to play for - that's a lot of points. It's still early days."
