Rangers' Danny Wilson wants to make amends in Scottish Cup final

Rangers defender Danny Wilson aims to savour victory in his second major cup final, six years after feeling "very, very guilty" collecting a winners' medal.

Wilson was sent off as Rangers beat St Mirren in the 2010 League Cup final with Kenny Miller's header securing a 1-0 victory.

Centre-back Wilson had mixed emotions after the match and he wants to taste victory in the Scottish Cup final against Hibernian on May 21.

Wilson, who was dismissed for pulling back Craig Dargo back in 2010, said: "Obviously I was sent off in the game, and that was the second sending-off that day, so we were down to nine men.

"We won the game in the end but, on a personal note, to be sent off at 18 years old was devastating.

"But the team's the most important thing and the team managed to rally together and get an incredible win from the circumstances.

"It was a little bit bitter-sweet for me. It was the first time I had been sent off, so I didn't quite know how to react to it. I was very fortunate my team-mates bailed me out but hopefully that doesn't happen again.

"Obviously I was delighted the boys managed to do it but I was disappointed in myself in getting sent off. I felt very, very guilty walking out and getting a medal."

Wilson has already helped Rangers to two trophies this season, but the former Liverpool and Hearts player admitted he could have had a better campaign on a personal level.

Wilson, who was launching the Rangers Youth Development Company's new Youth Members Club, said: "At times, it's been good and at other times it could always be better.

"I'm highly critical of myself, and at times this season it's been good and other times not quite been good enough.

"I will take stock of it, I am always trying to be the best I can be, but it's been a good season for the players as a whole."
