Rangers defender Danny Wilson struck by Pedro Caixinha’s passion

Danny Wilson has called on his Rangers team-mates to match Pedro Caixinha’s “passion” after the new manager’s first meeting with his players.
The Gers defender said Caixinha spoke with intensity in the "positive conversation" on Tuesday in which Caixinha outlined his ideas on football, what the players can expect from his training sessions and what he expects of them.
Wilson insists the players are determined to end the season on a high after Caixinha took over with the side third in the Scottish Premiership and eight points behind Aberdeen.
"He seems to be the type who gets right involved and you could tell that from when we had the meeting this morning, his passion shone through in that," he told rangers.co.uk.
"We need to match that and go beyond that as players and if he is going to give us that then we have to give him something in return. We know this season has been fairly disappointing so we need to try and finish on a positive note.
"I've only worked with British managers and you maybe see when you watch European football that the managers get more animated on the side lines. If that is his style then great but we need to give him a hand as well."
Caixinha watched Rangers' 1-1 draw with Celtic from the stand on Sunday before being introduced to the media on Monday as the players enjoyed a day off.
"It was a bit odd coming in this morning, obviously it was announced on Saturday and it has taken a couple of days to finally meet him," Wilson said.
"We went in and had a short meeting just before we went out to train and he has told us what is expected of us at the club and we all need to be together now between now and the end of the season.
"We need to try and finish the season off well and push ourselves back up the league and hopefully have a good run in the cup. He told us what he expects and what we expect from him, he talked a lot about how he sees football and how he sees us progressing.
"It was a good chat, it wasn't very long and he told us what to expect from training going forward so now we can get down to work.
"We all left and felt it was a positive conversation and he has told us how he sees us developing as a team and as individuals so we're all looking forward to working with him."
Wilson did not take part in full training after putting in an impressive 90-minute shift on Sunday, but said Caixinha has already made his mark with his first training session on Tuesday.
"It looked like a really hard session that they did and the boys said it was quite intense but they really enjoyed it," the 25-year-old added. "They said it was different to what they had done previously because every manager comes in with new ideas but on the whole I think they all quite enjoyed it.
"Nothing massive has changed yet, we did a recovery session and that was a wee bit different, we went outside and did some work out there and we hadn't done that previously. I am sure there will be more changes as we go on but I think for his first day he is just letting us get used to it."
