Greg Docherty and Alfredo Morelos had an angry on-pitch exchange following Sunday's defeat to Celtic

Rangers have played down reports of a tunnel bust-up between Greg Docherty and Alfredo Morelos following Sunday's 4-0 defeat to Celtic, Sky sources understand.

The two players were pictured arguing on the pitch after the full-time whistle at the Old Firm derby, which saw Celtic reach the Scottish Cup final.

But reports of a tunnel bust-up between the two players are wide of the mark, sources at Rangers have told Sky Sports News.

Both Andy Halliday and Daniel Candeias, who were substituted in the game, reacted angrily when leaving the pitch.

Interim manager Graeme Murty said in his post-match press conference words had been exchanged in the dressing room and the players were clearly frustrated.

Murty apologised for his side's first-half performance after the game and said the players are now "playing for a contract" at the club whether or not he is in charge come next season.
