Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker says Rangers risk losing their chance of winning the Scottish Premiership this season if they decide to sell striker Alfredo Morelos.

Rangers will be selling the chance to win the Scottish Premiership if Alfredo Morelos leaves the club, says former Celtic striker Andy Walker.

The Colombian forward leads the goalscoring charts in Scotland with 13 Premiership goals this season and Walker believes he is vital to Rangers if they are to end Celtic's hold on the league title.

Walker said manager Steven Gerrard will be desperate for the January transfer window to end.

"If you sell Morelos, you sell your chances of winning the title," Walker told Sky Sports News.

"He's the top scorer in Scotland, he's got a marvelous attitude to scoring goals, working as a team player and he's so important for Steven Gerrard.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard tells Nice they will be wasting their time making a bid for Alfredo Morelos.

"In the end, it won't be Steven Gerrard's decision. If there's a bid that's big enough then Rangers as a club will sell.

"But that's why managers want to get this January transfer window out of the way, so they can concentrate on the games in hand. But certainly, Morelos is someone that's worth a lot of money.

"No one really knows the financial affairs of Rangers. All you do know is what's very public - Rangers lost £14m last year, so for £14m I think they'd be very tempted to do business."

Morelos scored Rangers' third goal in their 3-0 win at Livingston on Sunday and was named man of the match after an 11th goal in his last 14 appearances.
