Scottish Championship: 'A great three points' says Rangers striker Jon Daly

Jon Daly was happy to get among the goals on Saturday when Rangers overcame an early setback to beat Dumbarton 3-1 at Ibrox, where Lee Wallace and Dean Shiels were also on target.
The win leaves them 13 points adrift of Scottish Championship leaders Hearts, who are the next team to travel to Rangers in two weekends' time.
Daly accepts the victory ‘wasn’t totally convincing’ but admits the hosts were ‘a little edgy’ following their disappointing recent run of results.
The striker told the club’s website: “It’s a fantastic three points. It maybe wasn’t as convincing as the scoreline suggests but at 2-1, after we have not taken our chances, Dumbarton always have a chance at the end to throw bodies forward.
“With our recent run of form, we’ve probably looked a little bit nervous although we’ve defended quite well, blocked shots and put our bodies on the line.
“Nicky Clark has then broken away and Deano has produced a good finish to make it 3-1 right at the death.
“So it wasn’t totally convincing but if we had taken our chances during the game, it could have been a lot more comfortable and easier at the end for us.
“Our recent run of form hasn’t been great and when you go a goal down, the easy thing is to feel sorry for yourself. We obviously had to dig deep and make sure we bounced back.
“For me personally, I have had a couple of months without a goal and it’s important for strikers to get goals.
“It was a fantastic ball in from Stevie Smith and I thrive on that kind of service. I’m just disappointed I didn’t go on and get another couple after scoring early in the first half.
“But first and foremost, getting the three points was the most important thing and we’ve managed to do that today.
“It’s a good way to start the new year with Hearts dropping a couple of points as well, so we have to keep looking forward now and looking ahead to the next game."
