Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove has signed a new deal that will see him stay at the club until the end of the 2021/22 season.

Cosgrove is Aberdeen's top scorer having scored nine goals this season in all competitions.

"To be honest, as soon as the offer came through, it was never a matter of if I was going to sign it, it was just about getting things done as soon as possible," he told the club website.

"And while it's great to have security for my future, I see it as an incentive to push on and show what more I've got to come.

"We didn't have the start to the season that we had hoped for but the run that we've been on for the past month has put us in a great position going into the second half of the season."

The 22-year-old joined Derek McInnes' side in January 2017 from Carlisle. He scored his first competitive goal for the club in a 4-1 win over St Mirren in October last year.
