Kris Boyd to serve two-game suspension after red card appeal fails

Referee Nick Walsh showed Kilmarnock's Kris Boyd a red card at Aberdeen

Kilmarnock forward Kris Boyd has failed with an appeal against the red card he received during Saturday's 0-0 draw at Aberdeen.

Boyd was dismissed for serious foul play after a challenge on Graeme Shinnie with 10 minutes left at Pittodrie.

His appeal hearing was fast-tracked and referee Nick Walsh's decision has been upheld by the Scottish FA.

Boyd will therefore miss Scottish Premiership matches against Hearts (Friday) and Dundee (Wednesday).

Kimarnock manager Steve Clarke said after Saturday's match: "It's a point away from home against a good team, a difficult opponent.

"Had to defend even better in the last 10, 15 minutes of the game when the referee decided to put us down to 10 men. I think a yellow card would've been more than sufficient."
