De La Cruz eyes Scottish exit

More from Football

ULISES DE LA CRUZ is hoping to use the World Cup to showcase his talents and earn a move from Hibernian, with La Liga or Serie A his preferred destination.

The Ecuadorian star has three years on his contract in Scotland, but at 28 and in his prime, is looking for a dream move, with Milan or Barcelona the ideal teams to join.

Speaking about his transfer desire, de la Cruz bemoaned his career luck up until now, saying: "You need to have good luck in football and until now I have never been in the right place at the right time.

"I am now 28, and this World Cup is the first opportunity I have had to land a contract in Spain or Italy.

"Those are the countries I want to play in.  I have three years left on my contract in Edinburgh - but who would want to stay there?

"I have always followed Italian football on TV. AC Milan are the Serie A team I support, while Barcelona are my favourites in Spain.

"They are my dream destinations.  If I went to Spain I would enjoy myself - they have a lively style of play that I like.

"But if I was to join an Italian club, I would learn all about tactics."
