Ajaccio secured an important 1-1 draw against Bordeaux as they battle to stay in Ligue 1.
The visitors moved to just three points from safety after Mohamed Larbi secured them a point in the 89th minute.
Bordeaux were awarded a penalty 10 minutes before half-time after Alassane Toure brought Cheick Diabate down in the area and the striker put away the resulting spot kick to put the home side into a lead they held onto until Larbi's late strike.
Nice moved into third after a 2-1 win over Troyes who are rapidly losing ground at the bottom of the table.
It took the home side just 12 minutes to get on the scoresheet as Valerie Germain found the back of the net but Troyes levelled after 26.
Corentin Jean made the most of a mistake from Yoan Cardinale to level the scores.
Troyes looked like they were heading for a much needed point but on 72 minutes Mahamane Traore got into the area to secure Nice all three points.
Reims slipped to just three points above the relegation zone after a 2-0 loss away to Lille.
Antoine Devaux was sent off for Reims for two yellow cards in just 11 minutes in the middle of the second half.
Lille went ahead just after the hour mark through Rony Lopes but after Devaux's dismissal the home side doubled the scoreline in added time through Eder to move them to 13th in the league.
Bastia had 24 shots but failed to beat Lorient goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte as they extended their unbeaten run to four games. The 0-0 draw leaves both teams on 38 points in mid-table.
Angers and St Etienne shared the points in a 0-0 draw at the Stade Jean-Bouin. St Etienne moved to sixth in the table after a game which only saw one shot on target for each side. Angers lie ninth.
