An amateur football match in France was called off after an angry neighbour protested in the centre circle

An exasperated resident caused the abandonment of a French amateur game when she staged a sit-in protest at footballs repeatedly going into her nearby garden an hour into the match.

Tarbes FC were leading Juillan III 2-1 at the latter's home ground in the local Sunday league game at the weekend when the woman set up a chair in the centre circle in the 65th minute and refused to move.

She did so in protest at the number of footballs which were being fired over her fence by Juillan's players during their training sessions in the Hautes-Pyrenees region of France.

Officials tried to negotiate with the protestor in a bid to get her to leave the pitch and re-start the game but, after a futile 45 minutes of trying, the match was abandoned.
